Worldgate's StudentSmart® is an end-to-end K-12 data warehouse and business intelligence solution that enables school districts to measure effective teaching by performing a wide range of analysis and reporting across all subject areas, empowering administrators to make data driven decisions within their organization. Worldgate has focused on serving the information needs of educational customers for the past decade, specifically to address school performance management.

The Data Model

The foundation of any solid reporting and analytical solution is the data model. To serve as the base of our StudentSmart Solution, we employ a robust and mature data model dynamic enough to incorporate enhancements specific to each client’s unique database environment. It includes an extensive library of industry standard key performance indicators (KPIs) which map to operational as well as historical analytical requirements.

The Data Model has evolved as a result of engagements at several state education departments and local school districts and currently includes 14 subject areas, more than 150 entities, and more than 1000 attributes.

The Business Intelligence Layer

Having access to the right data is only the first step. The data must be accessible in a meaningful way providing standard and custom reports based on the needs of the different user communities. StudentSmart has 70+ pre-built reports and dashboards that are dynamically generated to provide data that can drive decisions. The BI layer delivers five styles of business intelligence through a unified web interface acting as a one-stop shop for all users:

Implementation

Worldgate understands that to achieve desired results of a performance management system it takes training, change management, knowledge transfer and the adoption of the technology and best practices by the entire organization.

Effective decision making can only happen with flawless implementation. As part of our StudentSmart implementation, we effectively manage the project with a collaborative client approach. We train the user community either through end-user training or train-the-trainer sessions depending on client preference. And we offer ongoing help desk or production support to the user community to ensure the tools are fully accepted and utilized.
